New MMO - Tera

Tera is about to launch on May 1st and it has had 5 closed beta's and an open beta that was this past weekend. For the people who pre-ordered, (Church and Arctic), we get to play this Saturday (4/28/12 @ 12PM PDT) straight through into the launch day. Why am I telling anyone this? The people who are in this early access get 3 "Friend" codes so that those 3 people can play for free from Saturday until the Launch day.

SO.. If anyone is interested, let me know. Otherwise, these codes are just going to go to waste.

Some information on the server we are on, our levels, and what we play:
Server - Dragonfall (PVE)
Class - Sorcerer (Church) /// Archer (Arctic)
Levels - 32 (Church) /// 22-26 (Can't remember his level).

Tera is awful, going to be another Aion, all hyped up and dead soon after.

I'm gonna be playing the Guild Wars 2 beta event this weekend :3

Yeap excited for GW2 weekend, even though I'll be clubbing/partying most of it but whatever lol. I know everyone has their own tastes Church, but it really is what I said, especially when I played beta. People try to say after level 20 it gets better and I'm like, really? So I have to be bored outa my mind until level 20? Lawllll GW2 is doin the right thing, making people not want to be suicidal and bored out of their minds from the start.

I was not bored at all :O. But I like to level in MMO's, among many other things to do in any MMO, and the combat system is refreshing..

If they added in Age of Conan's fatality system, this game would be even more amazing for me.. lol

Their combat system isn't really that great at all. Sure you don't have to target enemies, I enjoyed it in Vindictus, but idk. Tera is just not a game for me, bored me and turned me suicidal, on top of as I said, another game that is going to fail hard :/ Another reason why I didn't get SWTOR, hyped because of Star Wars fanboys, and they already dying out lol, keep reading at how much fail it is turning into.

I really didn't find it boring at all, and if you really think its going to die out..I don't see how that would be possible.

It's a tremendous success in all other parts of the world and people have been waiting patiently for years to be able to play this game in the US/UK.

Like you said though, everyone's tastes are different. You might be bored playing TERA and I would probably be bored playing GW2. I for one have found the combat interesting and engaging time and time again. Perhaps try getting to level 20 (which takes maybe 2-3 hours) Then see if it's still boring.

Hope everyone will at least give it a chance and not just write it off, I'll certainly be giving GW2 a go at some point!

It sounds more like you do not like MMO's at all.. lol Each MMO is a grind fest, same generic concepts. But it's the small/big things that make them different.
Star wars - Voice acting/Story mode type questing made that game fun.
Tera - Combat system integrated into everything.
WoW - finally added in that zone questing (were you progress and the zone layout changes with how much you did) since Lich King.
AoC - Mature rated MMO with fatalities and a decent combat system.

Those are just the major things I could think of. They also have flaws too. But enough debating over what's good or bad in our eyes.

Back to the real point, IF anyone wants to try Tera this weekend... Let me know!

I do like their combat but was just so boring with the quests they had to offer, and yes I realize it's a huge success in other areas, but one point I made well when talking in Tera chat, was that they only make Grindy games anyways and to them Tera is not near as grindy for them so it does not bother them haha. You fail to realize many US people can't stand the grind and I have to say WoW was fairly boring in the beginning until not too much later Dungeons started which kept me hooked. I think GW2 will do well if they can make their event system better than Aion, and a better game just in general. I might like Tera in the long run but I got D3 and GW2 to play and I'm all set with the monthly payment, did that long enough with WoW haha

All of these games have certain little things that set them for failure in a short amount of time though.

I'm going to be playing Guild Wars 2 this weekend, but I might be interested in trying Tera. I don't know if I'd ever buy it though because I think it fits in that category with SWTOR, AoC, Warhammer, and other MMOs that died quickly. Combat system looks beast though

I'll probably end up getting GW 2. I have the first one and I enjoyed it, bought the three expansions for it.

How are servers going to work on GW though? Weren't they just random on the first one, is there a way we can all get on the same server?

Where is Loading's post from like a few years ago about Tera. He should be getting it!

Guild Wars 1 and 2 will be completely different. Where Guild Wars 1 was never really considered an "MMO" the second one will be. There will be servers like in any other MMO.

So all we need to do is wait til they come out with their list of servers and then get on the same page. Thats what me and my buddies are doing, welcome to join us.

Seriously, I havent followed any new games lately, I played Skyrim to complete the main quest and stopped...soes yeah

...Aion isn't dead

SWTOR / AoC / Anarchy Online (10+ year old game) / WoW / Aion / Rift are all not dead..
As long as the servers are still running, patches are being put out and people are still populating servers... Those games are not dead.

Dead/Dying. Swtor declining, WoW declinding, Rift been declining forever and now f2p rofl, I lol'd hard when they did that. Aion's declining. Aka dead, just fanboys with groups of friends.

By the way you look at it... GW is dead and GW2 will also be dead. Or any game for that matter. Maybe you shouldn't even be playing games.. lol

Not to mentio we are playing soccer on a dying game :p

Church I'll give it a try. I want to compare it to GW2. In the beta right now. Owen trying to convince me to get TERA lol

Church, I don't even. And exactly stinger! We are playing a dead game cause we are a group that's played together for a while and fanboys! Winning.

Guess the 9+ million WoW subscribers and the 1.5 million aion subscribers are fanboys too
