LO Meeting Results (4/5/14)

Post by Free on Tue Apr 08, 2014 9:55 pm

We got together to touch up on some things before the season starts.

Here's a list of the things we went over:

Rules were checked and updated since it's been a while. A few big changes to look for.

  • Rosters - The maximum amount of players a team can hold has been changed to 13 to accommodate the amount of players. This means we're looking for a 5 team season.
  • Sitting a player - We've tried in the past to put a hard minimum on the amount of halves a captain can sit a player. This has been changed to the player's judgement. If you feel you haven't been getting appropriate playtime, bring it up to an LO. This is a big thing as we want every player to be able to enjoy participating in the season.
  • Golden Goal - Matches that end up in a golden goal situation have had their point distribution changed. Instead of 3 points to the winner and 0 points to the loser, the winner will now get 2 points and the loser will get 1 point.
  • Playoffs - The playoff system for this season will be a single elimination tournament bracket. The number one seed going into the playoffs will have a bye to the semi-finals.
  • Dates for matches - The season will take on the usual 2 rounds, but a significant change is we're moving match days to 2 days a week instead of 3. We're hoping to give captains and players more time to prepare and avoid forfeits. The days for matches will be decided by a public vote, and will be updated here after.
  • *PUG ONLY* Captain tiers - Tiers are coming back! And some changes are being made to the way captains are picked. This'll be experimental at the start, but will hopefully get rid of the problem of long captain picks.
  • *PUG ONLY* Enforcing subbing - There's been some leniency regarding the rules for subbing in a pug. We're going to have to start cracking down on this. In particular, if you're calling for a sub, you must wait until the sub actually joins the team and spawns. It's an offense to leave the game before the sub spawns on your team.
  • *PUG ONLY* Captain timer - The time allowed for a randomly chosen captain to ready up will be raised from 30 seconds to 1 minute. We understand some people go AFK while captains are being picked and this will give those a few extra seconds. On the downside, we're going to start enforcing the AFK rule more than usual. This means the !afk and !nosubafk commands will be used more.
  • *PUG ONLY* Potential ban system - In the works is a voteban system that will be implemented to try out. The way it works is this: players in the server have the option the use a !voteban command if there's a particular player that is not trying, trolling, not listening to captain, etc. While this is a very rare occurrence, the need for this has come up more recently. The percentage of players needed to successfully voteban someone will be high, up to 85% of the votes, and it will only be active if there's not an LO current in the server.

None of the things above are in stone and can change at any time. Get excited for season 8!

And we are still waiting for a 5th person to step up and be the last captain for the season.

After that is done, we will probably be going through the players on the draft list and removing the inactive people from it in order to make an even number of players per team.

This had been added with a new command !voteban [name]. A player can be banned if 75% of those pugging vote to do so and there is not an LO present in the server.
