The film earns its R rating with a number of gory action sequences that often make up for the problematic and confusing plot. You can tell the writers did spend time doing their research on the various weapons used, although honestly, they could have just as easily figured much of that out by playing “Call of Duty.”

I have to agree with you. The main reason the film works at all is that Morel’s a solid action director who makes a good-looking film while building the suspense and tension through the action sequences, although some of that comes from the confusion of not really knowing what’s going on in the first half hour.

"It's just so ego-based and so melodramatic, like the strongest, most vulnerable thing you can imagine," says New Yorker George Gross, one of the organizers behind the Ziegfeld screening. "It just collapses upon itself." Spellbound by the film after seeing it in October 2008, Gross and two friends acquired a print of The Room from Wiseau and screen it at Village East Cinema once a month to sellout crowds.

Personally I think it was far too over the top for something that was advertised as a film "everybody can enjoy" as advertised by its producer Manny Merryweather. Personally, I think they overused the amount of gore and violence in the film to distract from the fact that there was absolutely no plot. As a Psuedochristo-Mormon and a single mother, I think the message the protagonist sends to its young audience is not one I would want my children to receive.
