How you found the PSL/SSL

So thought of this thread to basically tell of how you found out about the PSL/SSL or how you managed to stumble into their servers.

How I found out about the SSL was first I found Steveoh's old minigames/soccer lfs server. I mainly joined it for the mini-games as I wasn't really that interested in soccer but the title was pretty misleading actually and it was on soccer for about 85% of the time and mini-games like 15% so I got into soccer. A little later I got introduced to the SSL servers, started pugging, and eventually joined YGunz . If you don't remember or have never heard of YGunz it was basically a team of random new players, led by capsfan. Mind you I had only been playing for a month or so when I joined, so I wasn't very good.

dYn Soccer Server before Season 1. Brought into the league by Magz / Fig.

I was in the NG server when balls&sniff introduced me into pugs in the PSL at the end of season 1 PSL

Only the best soccer server to ever exist, dYn. Randomly joined one day looking for ka_volleyball servers. First people that brought me into pugs were Omega/Fig. My first team was sK, which I quit for shipshape, and then quit for SvP.

My best friend found the mod and said "Hey, come look at all these fags playing soccer." I am not sure why I even joined really, at that point in my life I hated soccer. I didn't even play CSS either, I bought DoDs and CSS came in the package. So after about 2-3 weeks of being in the dYn server pretty much non stop, sazar asked me to join a pug. At that point in time there were no first 12 players rules so I wasn't even picked for 4 pugs in a row, then finally someone said that they had to pick me since I had been waiting so long lol.

After about a month in the pug server I had been talking to Fatal, BJ, and Owen mainly. I believe I pretty much begged Owen to join shipshape and I was finally let in although it died within a month of me joining lol.

Anyone else remember the good ol' days when there were pugs pretty much non stop?

The 2006 world cup got me looking to play any form of soccer I could (Fifa especially). I knew about the soccer mod for CS 1.6, and was looking to see if a similar mod existed in source. In my search I found the dYn server. Then I got banned from it by Glockness Monster for cussing in the server...I believe he was 53 years old at the time. Then I got unbanned by Airiox and donated $5 to get admin (there were plenty of speed hackers back in those days).

Eventually I met up with Chex and his brother G-Hawk wearing a "buttes" tag, and they were REALLY good compared to everyone else. Shortly after that, being an extremely competitive person, I figured there could be an opportunity there. I picked up Fig, got some of my friends to play, and we started SvP with the sole purpose to be the best soccer clan out there and beat buttes. Eventually I found out about GGA and SMB and eventually we had quite a few teams playing in the servers (Stevo's SMB, Omega's WCU, GGA, Buttes, SvP, etc.). We started to scrim each other for a while, things got pretty popular, things got heated between teams, and after a while Ace/Omega/Myself somehow made the SSL.

My memory is pretty vague, but we had a lot of fun back then. My earliest memories include hitting the ball up into the stands and letting it roll back down to do a 180, Omega's rage, SMB's tactic to just kill the entire other team with the ball instead of trying to score a legitimate goal, and Ace's cat and unrelenting mic-holding down...those were the good ol' days.

Ah! I was writing my post when you posted your post...and we both referred to the early times in ka_soccer as the "good ol' days". Too true.

LFS server during Season 2 SSL after DoD:S CAL died

Followed clueless into stevos i think either during or after season1. Didnt rlly pug actively until around s4. Up until then i was pretty much the furtif of the ssl

Back in 2006, first with dYn then s1 with WcU and sK, fun times.

Played in Steve-O's SMB server, was invited to pug, never looked back.

Was stuck in G, excelled and yeah..

NovaCat (kannon) asked me if i wanted to join 4 corners for this league in NG server

My cousin Sushi found Ace's pub server almost at the end of SSL season
2, during the break we mostly played there, but one day i got invited to
pug by Kdub and Michael Scott and had to play left defense against Owen
on my first pug, after a few weeks of puging i played pre-season 3 with
Energy (Cosmo was still anoying back then) and HP ( Tactics was still a fag WA) but end up joining Owen's DooM team in regular Season 3.

started playin in 2006 with some of my friends from my school soccer team lol, and owned a few of my own soccer servers from like 07-08 and i stopped playing for like a year, and came back in 09 and found ng,I remember seeing people kdub and everything we see now and I was like how the hell. So one day some ppl in ng gave me pass to psl server and s1 just started i believe and i pugged a bit(i remember being worse than bartuc cuz I always just played for fun and never pugged before. Yet i was somehow invited to join sf) for like a month and i wasnt getting any better so i stopped for like a few months and pugged like a few times a month then i started really playing again in spring break of 2011 and i started pugging daily and went from there. If only i found out about pugs back in 2006 :/

I played in the [dYn] servers along time ago I'm guessing about 5 years ago at this point, maybe 6... Owen was on the hunt for young boys again (just kidding I love Owen). He was in [SS] and added me to friends list. I was pretty young and he began talking to me about playing with them in a private server.

Why the heck not? I played with about 100 latency and played goalie all the time. Learning around OweN and the guys he played with was really helpful cause if I did bade they were okay with it. Then again everyone was pretty bad considering it was just snipes now that you look at it. But O was pretty encouraging with "nbs" even if it was a shot from half-field and it was a body deflect haha.

So from then on I played defense and goal for a long time. Then I started playing Wing on Doom with Owen and Prov1. Then I just kind of learned every position and got decent at them.

DooM had a good team, Nad/Owen/Pro/Myself (from what I can remember) surprised we didn't do better, then again, SvP was beats!

pretty sure lacesout would have beat svp if we kept playing
