PANDA'S CORNER #1
Now that the draft is over, captains and their respective players are set to play 2 matches this week for the preseason. This week I have some insight on draft picks and predictions of those matches.
Panda's Corner #1
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Activity and Skill are valued 1-10, 10 being the highest. Skill value is based solely on the average of individual players.
Mt. Gay-Shamrock Billigans
[Activity: 10, Skill: 7.5]
Trio: Nad, Kro, Ehtalia
Drafted players (in order): Hova, Cosmo, Furtif, Ibra, Jurik, Bingo, Racine, Capsfan
Heart and Soul: Nad - I can easily see Nad becoming the player we associate the Billigans with. Nad surprised every other team leading the ragtag group of LacesOut (SSL S4) because of their quick building chemistry that formed. You can expect to see Nad on both sides of the field rallying his team this season.
Star Pick: *Hova - There is no doubt of Hova's dominance as a defender. One of the league's veterans, Hova has 2 championship wins and has remained one of the top defenders the league has ever seen.
Sleeper Pick: Furtif - I admit I was shocked when Furtif was announced as the 16th pick of the draft and went to Billigans in round 3. Looking at it now, Nad snagged up one of the more quality wings in the draft, a position that was slim for the picking. Although it could be argued the pick could have come later due to Furtif's rocky background, his activity and improvement as of late are speaking for themselves.
Thoughts: This team reminds me of Laces. It's a group of varied players with similar playstyles that are very active. I expect to see mostly Nad and Kro on the offensive and Ehtalia as the starter goalie. Recently, Ehtalia has grown as a goalie and is making more consistent blocks with every game he is in net. Cosmo might be seen at D instead of goal for most games because of this, but his defensive utility has really taken off and this shouldn't be an issue.
Honey Badgers
[Activity: 7.5, Skill: 9]
Trio: Dill, Bazooka Joe, Bugen
Drafted players (in order): Panda, Archvile, Snuffy, Omega, Deltanoob, Mr. The Sandman, Fatdam, Trufflez
Heart and Soul: Dill - Dill triumphantly led SvP to 4 undefeated championships and Unbelievable to their win in season 2. His competitiveness and desire to win pushed the individual limits of every member of SvP. He will be looking to do the same with this fresh new group.
Star Pick: *Archvile - Arch is widely considered one of the best goalies of the league. His consistency in net led to him playing in multiple championship matches and gaining 3 recent championships under his belt. He is also an underrated utility player, able to play D with a goalie's perspective in mind. After taking a break last season, he will be looking to add another notch to his belt.
Sleeper Pick: Mr. The_Sandman - There's some things you might not know about Sandman. For example, he was shown how to play by SSL veteran ProV1. He has shown dedication to improving and is very active, two of the best traits for a starting player. As I've said before and will say again, new players with this mentality and openness to learn show the greatest potential and become great players quick.
Thoughts: This "SvP"-esque team will rely on years of chemistry on both sides of the field as well as experienced leadership. A great advantage of the Badgers is the immense utility of the team. Most of the roster can play multiple (if not all) positions.
Legendz Reborn
[Activity: 7, Skill: 9]
Trio: Stinger, LoneWolf, Premade
Drafted players (in order): Warcat, Arctic, Free, Spero, Donuts, Prototype, Black Jesus, Bottom Fragger
Heart and Soul: Stinger - Stinger has led teams to championship wins for the last 4 seasons. Although forfeits have plagued and tarnished these titles, there is no denying the leadership behind these teams' road to the finals.
Star Pick: *Warcat - Warcat has significantly improved his game in the last few seasons. He has become an impressive defender with great field awareness. After leading a team last season, he will have the chance to focus on his individual game.
Sleeper Pick: Free - I'm expecting Free to shock the league in the net this season. The Legendz roster is somewhat lacking in available goalies compared to other teams, giving Free the chance to prove he can goaltend against the top teams.
Thoughts: The immensely talented duo of Stinger and Lone will be relied on in Legendz. In fact I'd be shocked to not see Lone with the most goals for the team and Stinger with the most assists for the team by the end of the season. The utility of Stinger along with experienced leadership and previous chemistry will launch pad this team's success.
The Next Ones
[Activity: 8, Skill: 7.5]
Trio: Shadow, Cueball, Tactics
Drafted players (in order): Loading, Scop3r, Spock, ChickenWaffles, Balls, DFA, Rexxx, KillerMaster
Heart and Soul: Loading - Although not a captain, I believe Loading will fall into place as the heart and soul of The Next Ones. An always dominant presence in net, Loading will be keeping his team from worrying about catch-up goals while frustrating any offense that wishes to score on him.
Star Pick: *Loading - Loading is widely considered one of the best goalies the league has ever had. He has stepped into his own these last few seasons and in my opinion is the best current goalie. His consistency in net is unmatched.
Sleeper Pick: Scop3r - Always self-deprecating, Scop3r is proud that he's never been on a top team. That could easily change this season as the chemistry on both sides of the field is hard to ignore for this next generation of One players. Scop3r's defensive abilities will be able to shine on this roster.
Thoughts: Another team that is heavily based on chemistry, this next generation of One will have a strong backfield that is sure to frustrate teams. Shadow outscored every other dedicated center last season, and I expect him to be the dominant force on offense again.
Rare
[Activity: 9, Skill: 8.5]
Trio: Fatal, KansasCity, Face Melter
Drafted players (in order): Candyman, ThatGuy, Forty, Virus, Ping Spike, Pretender, CR7, CMurda
Heart and Soul: Fatal - Fatal has an outbreak last season and outscored everyone to win the Golden Boot. If he stays on the offensive side of the field this season, he can easily slip back into the part of playmaker and roleplayer for this team.
Star Pick: *Candyman - Candyman was picked over many veteran players that have been in the league since before SSL season 1, this speaks to his skill. His unique defense and activity have escalated him one of the top defenders of the league.
Sleeper Pick: Virus - Virus has last season's championship still in hand coming into this season. He was very active for mK and undoubtedly helped them comeback for a finals run. Going to the 4th round was something I didn't expect, and trios that face Virus on D might begin to regret passing him up.
Thoughts: If Rare can gel together, there should be no reason for them not to beat out every other team. Both the backfield and offense have active, dedicated players with huge individual talent. If the "chemistry ball" gets rolling for Rare, it will be hard to block it later in the season.
Team #OP
Trio: Meh, Michael V, Lucky
Drafted players (in order): SainT, Quick, Dragon, Alex, Herbal Smokin, Audacity, Fresh, Jay
Heart and Soul: Meh - For this team to grow, Meh will need to fill this role for OP. These new players have good potential to form chemistry with the veteran volunteers and all it will take is dedication from those in charge to help improve these players.
Thoughts: I was very impressed when I first heard Meh was starting this development team to help newer players. The only surprise "pick" from OP during the draft was Herbal, who was selected because of concerns in NotalenT's (Bottom Frager) activity. Keeping it semi-competitive, support from the veteran players, and not taking losses to heart will be the key to this team's success. Only time will show what plans Meh has to inspire and improve these players.
LZR 3 - 5 Rare
#OP 1 - 5 Billigans
TNO 2 - 6 hB
Rare 8 - 1 #OP
Billigans 6 - 5 TNO
hB 7 - 5 LZR

I didn't think it was possible to do what I normally do to convert the posts from here into HTML. For most posts I can just copy and paste stuff into a HTML program and it gives me back the code without having to do any work. Sooo I didn't think that would work with pictures in the post at all without doing the coding manually after. So yeah mb, nothing personal against you.
From now on all media stuff will be posted on the front page.

That and they're a development team focused on NOT being fully competitive. Seemed unfair to rank them with the others.
Thanks for the feedback guys, it will definitely make me want to do this again. I forgot to mention in the post but thanks to Nad for organizing and helping with the team photos and ideas. Also thanks to those that posed for them (excluding those that can't control their spray button lol).
